Testimonials
At Underwood Construction we are proud of our reputation, so the words of thanks we receive from clients are very important to us. Here are testimonials from some of our projects.
"Underwood Construction successfully tendered for and carried out just over £90,000 of minor DDA improvements in our public buildings during winter 2009/10. This project came in on time and on budget, we were pleased with the quality of Underwood's work. The company were well organised and a pleasure to work with. The working foreman built good relationships with our building users, which made for a smooth contract and meant that they made their own access arrangements etc. over multiple sites which saved us a lot of time. They came in out of hours without complaint when access during normal hours was not possible, and worked flexibly between sites to fit in with building use patterns. Where there were glitches, for example we had a powered door opener that suddenly stopped working, they were back on site to rectify the problem within a matter of hours. Some of the work was to listed buildings and they sourced appropriate materials, and this work was carried out to a high standard to the satisfaction of Conservation. We had not used Underwood Construction before this DDA project, but we had a very good experience and will certainly offer them further tendering opportunities as they become available."
Louise Baxter"The quality of the build is to the best standard of the entire phase 3 Children & Family Centre programme. "
Geoff Galloway - Re Maidenbower Children & Family Centre"Dear Paul (Site Agent) - On behalf of everyone at Thomas A Becket School, Worthing I would like to thank you for all your hard work in managing the building project. We are delighted with our new areas, it feels like a new school! We know you have worked extremely hard to finish the project in the face of many problems. Many thanks again"
Everyone at Thomas A Becket School - 2011"May I take this opportunity of thanking you, the site manager Paul Mitchell and all your team for completing this contract on time and producing a very pleasing result. The extension to the house looks as if it had always been there and the studio and tub room have fully implemented the design work."
Christopher Hobden"I write as extensive work at The Weald School carried out by Underwoods is nearing completion. Underwoods were awarded the contract to complete significant works of around £800k through West Sussex County Council. Changes involved construction in 36 different locations across the school. The time span for work has been extremely short with the summer holiday plus four weeks at the end of the summer term. I am writing to say how pleased I have been with how the work has gone. The work has been completed to a high standard and largely on time, especially considering the scale of operations. I have been extremely impressed by the willingness of both Underwoods and those sub-contractors you have used, to work with the school in a positive and constructive way to resolve problems as they have arisen. The simple reality of any large building project is that there will be problems along the way. I have been hugely impressed with the tone and manner with which Underwoods has worked with the school to resolve issued presented. Plans have changed, on occasions we have changed our mind, yet supervisory staff here have been engaged with us to reach solution. When things have gone wrong Underwoods has not shied away from their responsibilities and have been prepared to make things right for us. I will be more than happy to recommend Underwoods to fellow Headteachers in West Sussex as building opportunities arise. Please pass on my thanks to all those at Underwoods involved in the work here at The Weald."
Peter Woodman - Headteacher of The Weald School, Billingshurst"St Mary’s Catholic Primary School appointed Underwood Construction to undertake provision of: • an additional classroom; • secure vehicular access; • separate pedestrian access; • improved cycle storage; • an extension to provide new office accommodation, an attractive reception area, larger staffroom, additional storage, and staff toilet facilities. We are delighted with the finished result. It has given the entrance to the school a lovely, modern airy feel which has already attracted favourable comments from parents and other visitors. All the staff are enjoying the improved facilities; the children (and teacher) love their new classroom; and the whole school community is benefitting from the enhanced environment. It was a pleasure to work alongsidethe UCL team for the duration of this major project. Disruption was kept to a minimum and operational issues were addressed promptly and to the school’s complete satisfaction. The project was completed on time and within budget. The Site Manager remained on site for a few days following handover and dealt with the few minor snagging issues that arose, which was reassuring. "
